Straight Shooters Archery Club Saskatoon

Archery Programs

While the Saskatoon Straight Shooters Archery Clubs goal is to promote and develop the sport of archery to all, our main focus has been on youth through programs such as the Junior Olympic Program (J.O.P.). The J.O.P. provides our young archers with instruction in archery, where they then compete against themselves and other children to earn badges as they improve. A number of these Archers have gone on to participate and compete at provincial, national, and world events.

Saskatoon Straight Shooters Archery Club also provides basic and intermediate coaching to its members in conjunction with the SAA and FCA.

The J.O.P. is offered through the Saskatchewan Archery Association and is open to children aged 21 and under. The program is designed to encourage and reward children in their archery achievements, regardless of age or ability. The children basically compete against themself to earn badges as they progress. In a competition they will only compete against other children who are trying for the same badge. They start out at 10 meters, then move up to 15 meters, and finally up to 18 meters and earn badges for scores achieved at each distance. (For example, at 10 meters they have 4 badges to earn before they move up to 15 meters.) There is no charge for this. It is included in your membership.
